Window Cleaning Services

Four services. Two of them are abrasive work on glass, which is where experience and insurance actually matter.

Joslin & Co cleans residential and commercial windows across southern New Hampshire and north-central Massachusetts, and handles two specialist services that ordinary window cleaning cannot touch: post construction cleanup and hard water restoration.

How to tell routine cleaning from restoration work

This is the most common confusion, and getting it wrong wastes a visit.

If you are not sure, say so when you call. We will work it out when we look at the glass, and we will tell you if the cheaper service is enough.

How the services relate

Two of these are cleaning. Two are removal.

It is worth understanding the split, because it explains why two of these services are quoted differently and take considerably longer.

Cleaning: residential and commercial

Routine work. The material on the glass is sitting on top of it. Dust, pollen, road spray, handprints, grime. It comes off with the right method and the right water. The variables are pane count, grids, storm windows, stories and access, which is what makes one house take twice as long as its neighbor.

Removal: post construction and hard water

A different problem entirely. The material is bonded to the glass. Cured paint, mortar, adhesive, or mineral scale. No amount of washing lifts it. Removing it means working the surface mechanically with steel wool, razor, or polishing compound.

That distinction is why those two are quoted separately and why they carry real risk. Everything hard enough to remove cured paint or mineral scale is also hard enough to damage glass. It is the reason experience and insurance matter more on those jobs than on a routine clean, and the reason we look at the glass before committing to anything.

They often turn up together

Water running over new concrete, mortar or masonry picks up alkaline compounds and carries them onto the glass below. So a building that has just had foundation work, a repointed chimney or new hardscaping frequently has both construction residue and mineral staining on the same panes. We will tell you if that is what you have, rather than cleaning it twice.

Getting it scheduled

How quoting and scheduling actually work

Call and we can give you an estimate over the phone. Tell us roughly how many windows, whether they have grids or storm windows, and how many stories the property is, and we can give you a sensible figure to work with. We confirm the firm price when we see the property, because access and the condition of the glass are the two things nobody can judge down a phone line.

  • Call or send a request. Tell us roughly what you have.
  • We come out and look at the property.
  • We quote it on site.
  • On most jobs we do the work on that same visit. There is no separate estimate appointment and no second trip.
  • You are messaged the day before every visit, including recurring ones.

Recurring work

Most residential customers settle into an annual or semi-annual interval. Commercial runs anywhere from weekly for busy storefront down to quarterly for offices. There is nothing to sign and no package to choose between. We agree an interval that suits the property and come back on it.

Seasonal timing in New England

Spring and fall are the two natural windows here. Spring clears winter road salt and sand; fall clears summer pollen and dust before it has all winter to bond. One practical note: booking during the heaviest pollen weeks means fresh pollen lands on newly cleaned glass within days, so scheduling just after the worst of it gives a noticeably better result.

Common to every service

What does not change between jobs

$1,000,000 general liability and workers’ compensation, with a certificate of insurance on request.

The same cleaners return to the same property.

You are messaged the day before we come.

We quote on site and, on most jobs, complete the work on that same visit. No separate estimate appointment.

Five stories is the ceiling. Above that we will tell you to call someone else.
