About Joslin & Co
A family-owned window cleaning company, owner-operated, working across two states.
Joslin & Co is a family-owned window cleaning company based in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. Nico Joslin has cleaned windows for ten years and founded the company in March 2024. It is owner-operated, and the same cleaners return to the same property.
Ten years in the trade, and a company that did the paperwork from the start

Those are two separate facts and both matter. The decade of hands-on experience belongs to Nico. The company itself is young, founded in 2024, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What is worth knowing is what a two-year-old company chose to carry. $1,000,000 in general liability and workers’ compensation, from the beginning. Compensation coverage is expensive and often not legally required at small headcount, which is exactly why a lot of operations in this trade skip it. Carrying it is a decision about how the business is run, not a marketing line.
What being owner-operated actually changes
The practical difference is not sentiment. It is that the same people come back.
A homeowner who is uneasy about who is around the house knows exactly who is arriving. A property manager gets a crew that already knows the building, the access, and which windows are the awkward ones. A national franchise cannot structurally promise that, because its crews rotate, and neither can a company that subcontracts the work out.
You are also messaged the day before every visit, so nobody turns up unannounced.
What we will and will not do
Being straight about the limits
A short list of things we would rather tell you up front than discover on the day.
| Five stories is our ceiling | Above that you need a company set up for greater height. Rope access or swing stage, with the training and insurance that go with it. We will say so rather than take the job. |
| We can give you an estimate over the phone | Too many variables. We come out, look, and quote on site. |
| We will tell you if you need a different service | Cloudy glass after cleaning is mineral deposit, not dirt, and needs restoration. Paint and construction residue needs abrasive work. Both are quoted separately, and we will say which one you are looking at. |
| We will tell you if you do not need us yet | If a standard clean will do, that is the cheaper service and we will say so. |
Where we work
Two states, from one small town
New Ipswich sits close enough to the Massachusetts line that our service area naturally covers both southern New Hampshire and north-central Massachusetts. That is unusual. Most companies in this region work one side of the border or the other.

The work itself
What we actually do all day
Window cleaning sounds like one job. In practice it is four, and they need different equipment, different methods and different amounts of care.
Routine window cleaning
Interior glass, exterior glass, storm windows and screens on houses; storefront and building glass on commercial work. Exterior glass is cleaned either with water-fed pole systems using purified water, or by hand where the window calls for it. Purified water carries no dissolved minerals, so the glass can be rinsed and left to dry without toweling and without spotting.
Hand detailing
Divided lites, delicate glazing, interior glass and anything needing close inspection is worked by hand. A pole is efficient on open exterior glass and entirely wrong for a colonial sash with sixteen small panes. Choosing the wrong method for the window is the most common way a clean turns out badly.
Abrasive removal work
Post construction cleanup and hard water restoration are not cleaning in the ordinary sense. Cured paint, mortar, adhesive and mineral scale are bonded to the glass, and removing them means working the surface with steel wool, razor or polishing compound. That is skilled work with a genuine risk of damaging glass, which is why it is quoted separately and why we look at the glass before we commit to anything.
Knowing which is which
A large part of the job is telling a customer what they are actually looking at. Glass that stays cloudy after a clean is mineral deposit, not dirt. Glass with paint on it after a renovation needs abrasive removal, not another wash. Getting that diagnosis right saves a wasted visit and a wasted payment.
How we work
Quoting on site, and finishing on the same visit
Call and we can give you an estimate over the phone. Pane count, grids, storm windows, story count and access are what move the number, so the more of that you can tell us, the closer the figure will be. We confirm the firm price when we see the glass.
So the sequence is: we talk through what you have and give you an estimate, we come out and look at the glass, we confirm the price on site, and on most jobs we do the cleaning on that same visit. There is no separate estimate appointment and no second trip. Most companies in this trade send someone to look and then schedule the cleaning for another day.
You are messaged the day before every visit, including recurring ones, so the arrival is never a surprise.
Recurring cleaning
Most residential customers settle into cleaning once or twice a year. Commercial glass runs from weekly for busy storefront through to quarterly for offices. There is nothing to sign and no package to pick between. We agree an interval that suits the glass and come back on it. Windows on a schedule never reach the state that one-off cleaning starts from, which is the cheapest way to own glass.
