Commercial Window Cleaning in Worcester, MA

Storefront glass from $50, on whatever schedule suits the business. Buildings up to five stories. COI, workers’ compensation and net-30 invoicing.

At Joslin & Co, we clean commercial glass for businesses and property owners in Worcester, Massachusetts. Storefront window cleaning starts at $50 per visit, we work buildings up to five stories, and we invoice net-30. Call and we can put a number on a storefront on the phone.

Commercial window cleaning divides into two jobs that have almost nothing in common. Storefront and street-level glass is fast, repeatable and suits a standing schedule, weekly for some businesses and monthly or quarterly for others. Multi-story work is a project: bigger, less frequent, and quoted per building rather than per visit. Telling us which one you are is the whole first minute of the call.

What you get

What a commercial job covers

Here in full, so there is nothing to work out from an invoice later.

CoveredDetail
Exterior glassStorefront, entrance glass and windows up to five stories
Interior glassCleaned by hand, arranged around your opening hours
ScreensWhere a building has them
Storm windowsCleaned including the glass behind the storm, which matters on older mixed-use buildings

If there is something on the building you want looked at that is not on that list, ask on the call. We would rather tell you it is a separate service than have it turn up as a line on an invoice.

What a property manager checks

The paperwork, before the glass

Any business buying a recurring service has a short list it runs through before the work is worth discussing. Here is ours, answered up front rather than after you ask.

What you needWhat we have
Certificate of insuranceAvailable on request, for your file
General liability$1,000,000
Workers’ compensationCarried. Separate policy from liability, and the one that matters if somebody is hurt on your property
Uniformed techniciansYes. Your staff and customers can tell who we are
Invoicing termsNet-30
A real office to call61 Appleton Rd Unit 8, New Ipswich, NH 03071, and (978) 340-3890 reaches a person

Those are the boxes that decide whether a small company can be used at all. The one worth pressing on is that general liability and workers’ compensation are separate policies and plenty of firms carry only the first. Ask for both explicitly, of us and of anyone else quoting.

Where we stop

Five stories, and we will say so if your building is taller

Our ceiling is five stories. If your building is taller than that, we are not the right company for it and we will tell you on the first call rather than after a site visit.

It is worth being blunt about that, because height is where commercial window cleaning gets genuinely dangerous and where the gap between companies stops being about finish quality. A firm that will quote anything is telling you something. Inside five stories we are set up for the work and insured for it, which is the honest limit of what we should be taking on.

What it costs

Storefront window cleaning in Worcester starts at $50 a visit

That number is on the page because a business deciding whether to spend a phone call on us should not have to guess. Be clear what it is, though: $50 is where a storefront visit starts. It is not an average and it is not a building price.

What moves itWhy
How much frontage there isThe main driver on street-level glass
Inside as well as outsideInterior work has to fit your opening hours
How often we comeGlass on a schedule takes less time per visit than glass left for a year
Ground level or above itOnce glass is off the ground it stops being storefront work
Condition of the glassMineral scale or construction residue is removal work, not cleaning
Number of sitesSeveral locations on one route are quoted differently from one

For a building rather than a frontage, the quote is per building. There is no honest starting price for that work because the variables swamp it, so we ask questions first and give a figure after.

How it works

One visit, not two

The standard arrangement in this trade is an estimate visit followed by a work visit. Two appointments, two interruptions, one clean.

We do it in one. You get an estimate on the phone, we confirm the firm price when we see the glass, and on most jobs the work happens on that same visit. For commercial we also want to know your opening hours before anything else, because the point of the job is that it does not get in the way of trading.

StepWhat happens
1. You call or send the formWe go through what is there before anyone gets in a van
2. We give you an estimate on the callA real number to work from. Storefront starts at $50
3. We come out and confirm the priceLooking at the actual glass, before anything starts
4. We do the job that visitOn most jobs the work happens the same time we come out

There is a message the day before each visit. And the same cleaners return to the same site, which is where most of the benefit of a recurring arrangement actually sits. They already know the hours, the access, and the door that has to stay clear when a delivery lands.

How often

Storefront on a route, multi-story as a project

How often makes sense depends on what the glass takes and who sees it, and in practice that lands somewhere between weekly and quarterly.

Type of glassTypical rhythmWhy
Street-level retail frontageWeekly to monthlyIt is the first thing a customer sees and it gets handled all day
Office and professional suitesMonthly to quarterlyLess traffic on the glass, and appearance still matters to visitors
Multi-story building glassInfrequent, project-basedBigger job, quoted per building rather than per visit

Recurring work pays off twice. Maintained glass takes less time per visit than glass left for a year, and the arrangement runs itself, which removes the part businesses actually find annoying: remembering to call.

Visits happen on the agreed interval and the invoice follows on net-30 terms, so it clears accounts payable the same way every other supplier does.

Working in Worcester

Managed residential buildings are commercial work, and there is more of it here than anywhere

Worcester has the largest housing stock of the sixteen towns we cover and the highest share of two-to-four unit buildings on the list at 45.8%. Only 30.4% is single-family detached, the lowest anywhere we work.

Street-level glass. Quick per visit, which is why it suits a standing schedule.

That matters commercially. Somebody running eight three-deckers is not a homeowner, they are a business, and they buy window cleaning the way a business does: a repeating schedule, one invoice, net-30 terms, and a certificate of insurance on file before anyone goes up a ladder. If that is you, this is the right page even though the glass is somebody’s living room.

The other half of commercial here is street-level: shopfronts, offices and professional suites, which is quick per visit and suits a standing route. Several sites in one area get quoted differently from one, so tell us how many and roughly where on the first call.

Before you hire anyone

Ask for both policies by name, not just “are you insured”

There are two policies behind the word insured, and only one of them is really about protecting you.

General liability pays for damage to your property. Workers’ compensation pays for the person doing the work if they are hurt while they are there. Two separate policies, and a company can carry one without the other.

The building and its glass are covered by general liability. The person up the ladder is covered by workers’ compensation. Where a contractor carries no second policy and somebody is injured on your premises, the exposure does not simply stay with them. That gap is common enough to be worth asking about directly.

We carry both. $1,000,000 in general liability and workers’ compensation, and a certificate of insurance is available on request. Ask us for it, and ask everyone else for it too.

Questions

Common questions about commercial window cleaning in Worcester

How much is commercial window cleaning in Worcester?

Storefront window cleaning starts at $50 a visit. What moves it is how much frontage there is, whether you want the inside done, how often we come, and the condition of the glass. Multi-story buildings are quoted per building rather than from a starting price.

How tall a building can you do?

Five stories. If yours is taller we will say so on the first call rather than after a site visit.

Can you work outside our opening hours?

Tell us your hours on the call and we will build the visit around them. For retail frontage the usual answer is before opening. It is the first thing we ask about on commercial work.

Do you invoice, or do you want paying on the day?

We invoice on net-30 terms, so it goes through your accounts payable like any other supplier.

Can we get a certificate of insurance?

Yes, on request, for your file. $1,000,000 general liability plus workers’ compensation. They are separate policies and it is worth asking any contractor for both by name.

How often should storefront glass be done?

Weekly to monthly for street-level retail, monthly to quarterly for offices and professional suites. Glass kept on a schedule is quicker per visit than glass left for a year, so the interval partly pays for itself.

Do you do more than one location?

Yes. Several sites on one route get quoted differently from a single location, so tell us how many and roughly where on the first call.

Will it be the same crew each time?

Yes. The same cleaners come back to the same site, which on a recurring schedule means they already know your access and your hours.

The glass is stained and cleaning has not fixed it.

Then it is probably mineral scale rather than dirt, which needs polishing rather than washing, or construction residue left bonded to the surface. Both are separate services and both are quoted after we have seen it.
